I imagine we all can relate to ‘Our Best Teachers’ in a grade school kind of way since many of us have that favorite teacher who impacted us in some way big or small. Somehow those teachers saw us, connected with a need or affirmed something in us.
As life goes, we strum along to our own tunes and become our ‘own person’ having lived through the formative years. How many of us think we’ve arrived when we reach our mid 20′s and have the world in our hands? Truly, through some sense of awareness, most of us are humbled at a point in life, knowing how little we do know. This can be looked upon as an opportunity to notice patterns that show up as behaviors, relationships and reactions. And now what? What do we do with that?
It’s easier to look at someone else’s behavior than to recognize our own. It’s a Universal thing we humans do, so don’t get caught in judging yourself or another because of it, we are all students here after all. This truly is one of life’s biggest challenges as it asks that we remove our ego to get underneath to see the truth in our own reactions in life.
It’s a big deal turning inward to face what we’ve deflected. Bigger yet is deciding to be devoted to understanding who we really are, and working toward sincerely loving ourselves as the being we’ve come into this life as. Once you decide to do the work, and it is work, the reward is amazing! There is depth of comfort and security in self love.
So it is in the deciding to give to self, love understanding and compassion that begins the ‘work’. It’s a process, a growing of your own humanity. In turn we radiate those very things for others. Imagine, for the sake of understanding purpose; not being affected by people’s negative energy; having the ability to be attentive to the life you’ve been given, performing your chosen focus that fulfills you, all while being in relationships with those around you.
